Confusing Words > shade and shadow
Does "bored" mean the same as "boring"? What's the difference between "funny" and "fun"? Here are some commonly confused English word pairs.

SHADE AND SHADOW
SHADE => protection from the sun

Examples:

It’s hot. Let’s find some shade to sit in.

The children played in the shade of the large beach umbrellas.

A SHADOW is the “picture” made by something that blocks out light

Examples:

Brian followed his father around all day like a shadow.

The safest time to exercise outdoors without getting too much sun exposure is when your shadow is longer than your height. When it´s shorter than you are, the sun is too high in the sky and you should limit your sun exposure.
