Confusing Words > foreigner and stranger
Does "bored" mean the same as "boring"? What's the difference between "funny" and "fun"? Here are some commonly confused English word pairs.

FOREIGNER AND STRANGER
FOREIGNER = a person who comes from another country

Examples:

Even though she had lived in England for five years, she still felt like a foreigner.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRANGER = someone you do not know

Examples:

My mother always warned me not to talk to strangers.

When you talk to your children about strangers, explain that no one can tell if strangers are nice or not nice just by looking at them and that they should be careful around all strangers.
